He said, she said (October 2019)

I have always been an enthusiastic sports person. Not a good one, despite my efforts, and the main reason is however many times I might hit, kick or throw a ball, I never seem to be able to get it to do the same thing twice. It always seems to do something different. It can be quite frustrating.

Students often pick on differences between courses, modules, marking, feedback, even individual lecturers as a reason for frustration. Often these differences are for good reason, but that doesn’t stop frustration spilling over into negative comments in module evaluations and NSS.

Consistency in management, delivery and marking can help alleviate these problems, but isn’t always easy when you’re dealing with a module team.
